LOOK (OR LOCH NESS MONSTER) OF THE DAY

So I decided to start, or at least try to start, posting looks of the day. Most of these are just finds from my own closet I happened to throw on for the day.

WHAT I'M WEARING:
Vintage Saks Fifth Ave blouse
Vintage 20's beaded hood
Drug store sunglasses
Thrifted belt
Granny knee-highs
Vintage oxford boots

Today the weather is floral with a touch of blue. Probably a bit of a bizarre outfit considering how bloody humid it's been, and it looks a bit like I'm a homeless person (not in a chic way), but oh well, it is what I've been wearing today. And despite my monstrously bumpy little knees, and the whole homlessness, I actually like it. Forrest and I have been working a lot of music and other projects, and I've started practicing the cello he gave me for my birthday, so I've been a bit negligent of the shoppe. Still, things have been selling like mad. And I swear new items will be up soon, even if by the time I get around to it all the items currently up are gone. Hopefully soon my avoidance of work will bear some new folksy cello songs.

two gorgeous designer dresses...peak your interest?

We here at Gypsy Gamine Vintage strive for perfection with all of our outfits. Clothing, shoes, and accessories that we don't just sell, we handpick, because we love them ourselves. We get especially excited when we find rare, avant garde, and unique gorgeous items. So of course, we're pretty stoked about the two we're sharing today!

The first item is a gorgeous silver beaded open back cocktail dress that can also be reversed to reveal a plunging neckline. It's by designer brand Oleg Cassini. A friend has the same dress that she got in the late 80s for $600! Yeah, quite a lot. This one is 1/10th of the price, and in almost perfect condition. So hop on this quick, AUCTION IS ENDING IN 24 HOURS!

Our second new designer dress is an avant garde, deep wine colored velvet cocktail dress with sheer beaded and sequined cutouts on the front and sides. It has origami folded pointed tiers on the top of the skirt, making it an incredible statement piece. This one is by designer brand Climax, which was recently sold on Urban Outfitters vintage line. Get this dress before bidding ends!!

Marilyn's Ferragamo Heels

Marilyn Monroe. Even when I was a little girl I was obsessed with her. I mean, she was so feminine, so beautiful, so stylish. Men melted wherever she went.

And the shoes she wore. My God. Those were incredible.

There is one specific incident involving Marilyn that sticks out for me:
I was watching TV, and was suddenly transfixed. I saw her dancing in a red gown, covered in crystals, with red heels, covered in crystals, and suddenly everything clicked in my head. I think every girl is draw to things that sparkle, like a moth drawn to a flame. That's why we all want to get married and have a huge diamond forever on our hand.

My point is, those shoes changed my life. I no longer wanted to play with trucks and Lego's with my brothers. I wanted girly, sparkly things. And fifteen years later, I still want the same things. We're girls. Dress up never has to end.

So who was the designer of these fantastic heels? Salvatore Ferragamo. The Italian designer who dressed the feet of the stars. Those shoes auctioned at about $40,000. That is quite a bit of money to walk in Marilyn's shoes.

So here's the good news: we here at GYPSY GAMINE VINTAGE have up for auction a pair of extremely RARE vintage Salvatore Ferragamo heels, encrusted with Swarovski crystals. These gorgeous heels have multi-colored Swarovski crystals, and are at an amazing price that is not even close to $40,000. So you can breath a sigh of relief, for all things holy and girly in this world CAN be obtained. And just as a tease I'm not putting up pictures of them here. Hehe. So go to our online Boutique!!!
